Welcome!

When you first arrive at our office, a friendly member of our staff will greet you and provide you with some initial paperwork to fill out.  For this reason, we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your appointment.  The paperwork will include forms that request information such as your medical history and your insurance information so we can check on any hearing benefits that are available to you.  We also ask that you bring a significant other or other close friend or family member to your appointment.  They are often helpful in the evaluation process as they can provide insight into how your potential hearing loss may be affecting your ability to communicate and participate in your personal life.

Consultation

The appointment will begin with Dr. Conner getting to know more about you and your hearing needs.  We want to know about your lifestyle, the type of social environments you interact in, and what role your current ability to hear may play in them.  Knowing how your ability to hear impacts your daily life will help us begin to determine the best course of action for designing a personalized solution to meet your needs.

Hearing Evaluation

A typical evaluation will begin with Dr. Conner using an otoscope to visually inspect your ear for any physical abnormalities (such as inflammation, an infection, or a hole in the ear drum) or a build up of ear wax that may be contributing to any hearing problems.  Next, you will be asked to sit in a soundproof booth while we perform a series of tests to determine the status of your hearing.

Once the necessary tests are completed, the results are recorded on an audiogram.  An audiogram is basically a graphic representation of your hearing ability.   Dr. Conner will go over the results with you and explain the type and degree of any hearing loss you may have.

Hearing Solutions

After we have discovered you hearing needs and determined your current hearing status, only then can we discuss the best hearing solutions for you.  Solutions could range from simple behavior changes or communication strategies, to properly programmed hearing devices, or even to medical referrals.  We provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision regarding your hearing.

After determining the right hearing solutions for you, there are a couple possibilities for follow-up.  If no hearing device is prescribed, annual hearing checks to monitor your hearing are often recommended.

If hearing devices are recommended, we will work with you in order to find the best device to fit your lifestyle and preferences.  Once the right device is selected, it will be programmed to match your specific hearing needs.  We will go over how to care for and maintain the instruments, as well as what to expect as you adapt to using them.

When you purchase hearing aids from us, you are given a 45-day satisfaction period to decide if this is the right choice for you.  During this time, we will schedule regular appointments in order to monitor how well the hearing aids are performing for you.  We are not satisfied unless you are, so it is important that we stay in contact and make sure everything is working to your satisfaction.

Comprehensive Hearing Care

Our goal is to make sure that your hearing allows you to live your life to the fullest, and for this reason our hearing aids include our Comprehensive Hearing Care package.  Hearing aids are sophisticated pieces of technology, and they require regular maintenance in order to make sure they are performing at their best.  For the life of your hearing aids, we provide quarterly appointments for cleaning and maintenance of the instruments, as well as any necessary reprogramming.  We also perform annual hearing checks in order to monitor your hearing for any changes.  Last but not least, you are also entitled to replacement batteries for your hearing aids.  Purchasing hearing aids is an investment in your quality life, and continuing care is an essential part of that.  At Sound Hearing Solutions we are here for our patients the moment they step in our doors for the very first time, and we continue to be here for them every day after.
